so i was lucky enough to witness one of the greatest es devlin exhibition today at cooper hewitt smithsonian design museum. it was an incredible experience to see her journey throughout her career. she’s the one who showed me the way that i can combine two of my favorite things into a passion of work--both pop culture and architecture.
ever since i was in high school, i’ve been a huge fan of beyoncé’s formation world tour set. it’s one of the well-crafted music tours set of all time in my opinion. i also love lorde coachella set and adele stadium tour. until i found out later that all of these sets were designed by the same stage designer. this is where i first got to know her.
this exhibition is really well put together. it traces her career from the start to the present, including drawings, 3d models, replicas, and paintings. it’s inspiring me to start a fire in my ass again after graduating and having a challenging time with my work journey overseas rn.
